Project Description Country: USA Location: Escondido Total Budget: $1,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Alabaster Jar nonprofit wants to give their survivors gym memberships as a component of their healing from trauma Our club has been supporting the nonprofit Alabaster Jar for some years now. They provide housing and healing, education, etc. for survivors of sex trafficking. The women can stay in the home for two years in order to receive the education, job training and counseling services that they need to recover from the horrific trauma they experienced. Part of the mental health healing is physical exercise so the director of Alabaster Jar told us they would like to provide gym memberships to their residents. They negotiated with nearby Planet Fitness to get a membership for only $199. per resident (quite a discount) per year. So, our $1,000. donation can buy memberships for 5 residents. The women are really looking forward to being able to work out in the gym.
